Solar, without disposable batteries. This kit allows you to automate the door of your Cot Cot Cottage or MIJ henhouse from Smoby.
Programmed and adjusted in our workshops, it is quick and easy to install.
Thanks to its light detection system, it always opens and closes your henhouse at the right time whatever the season.

The closing module detects the light and locks your chickens in 15 minutes after sunset. In the morning, the door opens automatically after a 15-minute delay.

 

New printed circuit board. The included lipo battery recharges even in the shade, no need for direct sunlight, no need to be due south.

This product was designed in partnership with the company Smoby who trusts us. Our company dates back to 2006 and we have been manufacturing automatic chicken coop doors since 2015. The Anticrocpoule closing module, adjusted, with the bracket supporting the braid.
The spring allowing the opening and its two supports.

Chicken Groom Limitations:

This automatic door means you don’t have to open the door in the morning and close it at night.
You will still need to visit your animals every day. Check for water, food and collect eggs.
In the winter, when it is freezing, you should visit your animals at least twice a day. A chicken needs water in liquid form.

This henhouse represents for Smoby more than two years of study, and required more than 500 000 € of molds, in addition to the study costs.

We love the fact that the coop is elevated. This reduces the humidity in the henhouse and, more importantly, gives the hens a place under the henhouse to protect themselves from both sun and rain. It also provides a dry place to put seeds.

The Cot Cot Cottage is very large, easy to clean thanks to its 4 doors and we like its design.

Finally, it is much less expensive than equivalent competing products and was designed and manufactured entirely in the Jura.

Regarding plastic:

Like any good jurassian, we prefer wood. My first chicken coop was made of wood. But like all hobby breeders who have been confronted with an invasion of red lice, I now only want plastic, which is much easier to clean and maintenance-free.

Smoby manufactures its chicken coops on its Arinthod site in the Jura region, on the same injection molding machines as the toys. So every plastic, every coloring agent or UV additive is controlled and meets the toy standards. This ensures that the plastic does not release substances that are harmful to the chickens, and therefore will not be found in the eggs. This is not always the case with wooden chicken coops treated with chemicals.

The plastic used is fully recyclable.

Our advice for the implementation of the hen houses Cot Cot Cottage or MIJ from Smoby :

We helped test the instructions which are very well done and the little booklet on how to take care of your chickens is exceptional. I just put below some personal tips.

Follow the instructions for the coop and secure the coop to the ground. It is very stable, but in a storm, it has a grip on the wind. Fixings are not included, you can make your own or use trampoline fixings. It is quite suitable, you can find it online or in sports stores. Here is a picture of the type of product that fits:

When you receive your chickens, we advise you to make a tiny pen of only a few square meters and to enlarge it only the next day. This allows the hens to get used to the henhouse and to sleep there.
We advise you to check that your hens are well roosted at night, it is their natural way to sleep. Some breeders do not have perches and the chickens are not always used to them. So if a hen is sleeping in the nest, grab her and put her on the perch. After a few days, they will be used to it and the nest will remain clean.

To limit the risk of disease:

Once again, we will recommend a product that we do not sell. These are automatic feeders, sometimes called pest control:

The principle: the food is only accessible when a hen is present on the plate in front of the feeder and tilts the opening with her weight. Wild animals, passerines and rodents do not have access to the seeds. In addition to the fact that you will consume much less seed, by not feeding all the birds in the neighborhood, this will limit the contact between your chickens and wild animals and therefore the risk of disease or parasites.

Of course , we encourage the feeding of passerines, especially with sunflower seeds, in winter when there is snow, but far from the henhouse.

And for the winter, even if you can find some on some sites, chickens do not need heating in their henhouse. It makes them sick and can kill them. Just be sure to replace their bedding if it is wet so they are dry. We don’t recommend closing both vents in winter to help keep the coop dry, just close the one on the prevailing wind side.

We should sell this product for 229 € TTC given its manufacturing cost.

Our company is Made in Jura. Disabled personnel perform the majority of the assembly. At the ESAT in Lons le Saunier, and in an adapted company in Dole (etp Synergie). The rest is done in-house. We try to buy a maximum of components in the Jura or in France.

We have oversized some components to make the product as reliable as possible. For example, the geared motor can withstand 15,000 opening cycles without wear, which corresponds to more than 20 years of use. We chose the components based on their reliability.

All this has a much higher cost than manufacturing in Asia with low-end components.

So, it’s true, it’s not perfect yet. Some elements such as the electronic components or the gear motor do not exist in Europe. But all the parts we find locally are purchased locally.

To reduce the price from 229 to 169 € including VAT, we have chosen to sell this product only directly on our site. This avoids the customer having to pay the distributor’s margin. For example, Amazon charges 38% margin on this product family.
